| After falling in love with Mountain biking in college it took falling in love with a racer for Abbie to discover her passion for competitive mountain bike racing. Abbie raced in the National Pro MTB field for 3 seasons before taking a break in 2006 to start a family. It was this hiatus where she began coaching at Marin Academy, training the 2008 High School Varsity State Champion. As an integral part of the formation of the Girl extension of the Whole Athlete Junior Development team, she is dedicated to helping more girls overcome the challenges of adolescents through the sport of cycling. "If I only knew then what I know now," she says is the mantra that inspires her to continue sharing her experiences with young racers. Her passion for the bike goes beyond competitive racing as she is dedicated to inspiring more women to discover the euphoria of riding a bike. In 2007, she founded My Alibi Clothing (a line of fashionable clothing designed with functionality for the bike) to encourage more women to integrate the bike into lifestyle as a form of transportation. The bike is a place for mental rejuvenation as well as health and fitness. By using yoga and a balanced cycling routine to reach our fitness potential we can each embrace our life's journey with passion and resilience. Though her focus is on helping more women discover the bike, she is by no means exclusive to coaching women. Her own accomplishments in racing were driven by self-motivation that led to a quest for training knowledge. She uses her intuitive understanding of periodization and intervals to stay in tune with the riders she coaches helping them excel physically as well as mentally.
